Privacy Notice

This notice explains how CareerClear collects, uses, and protects personal data for learners, families, and institutions across the markets we serve.
What we collect
- Account email and optional display name
- Assessment answers and career guidance results
- Organization membership and learner profiles (Family and Institution)
- Billing metadata required by our payment processors
- Consent records and limited security audit logs
Why we process data
- Provide career guidance and pathway planning
- Enforce subscriptions and seat limits
- Support counselors and parents with explicit organization roles
- Meet legal, security, and fraud-prevention obligations
Lawful bases
Depending on your market and relationship with CareerClear, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract / service delivery for signed-in users
- Consent for optional AI enrichment and non-essential cookies
- Legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention, and product integrity
- Legal obligation where applicable
For Nigeria, processing is aligned with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). For the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, we respect applicable UK GDPR / GDPR consumer rights. For Canada, we apply PIPEDA-aligned practices for commercial personal information. Additional local consumer protections may also apply.
School / institution processing
Institution customers act as data controllers for student cohorts they upload. CareerClear acts as a processor under the Institution Data Processing Addendum (DPA). Schools must obtain any required parental or guardian consents before uploading minors’ data.
Retention
- Active account data while the account remains open
- Billing records retained as required by payment providers and tax law
- Deleted accounts are anonymized; recoverable backups expire on a rolling schedule
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, and export are available in-product under Privacy controls, and by contacting privacy@bacenik.com. You may also have market-specific rights to object, restrict processing, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
International transfers
Where processors are outside your country of residence, we use appropriate contractual and organizational safeguards.
